I believe dentistry to be the perfect fusion of art and science, demanding the blending of artistry with skillful techniques, drawing on all of my abilities. When creating a new smile, a dentist must have a sense of harmony and of the patient's individuality - that new, attractive smile can dramatically change not only a person's appearance, but her entire outlook on life. I believe that dentists are not only doctors who treat diseases, but also healthcare educators who have a profound impact on the way patients lead their lives. It is essential to be able to explain to a patient in clear, exact language what is happening, so as to minimize their fear.
My daily goal at work is to apply my knowledge and clinical skills to provide complete dental care with the highest standard of treatment, tailored specifically to each individual patient. And the highest reward is to see my patients’ happy smile, improved oral health and appearance, which in turn affect their self-confidence and overall quality of life.
Outside the Office
I was born in the former Soviet Union, raised by my grandmother, I had to learn self-control and discipline at an early age, entertaining myself while she worked two jobs. I loved to draw, and worked hard at portraiture; I enjoyed the uniqueness of facial features, the ability to produce not only a physical likeness on paper, but also to capture the moment's emotional qualities. It was in high school, however, that my interest in science crystallized, for I became fascinated by the complexity of biochemical processes. After graduation, I came to the United States, confronting the countless obstacles that immigrants usually face, of legalization and language, of cultural readjustment, of working to support myself through college. I brought with me a keen interest in other people and in helping them, as well as a proclivity for the fields of science and medicine.
One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world. I love reading, and if it is not dental-related literature most likely it is philosophical read. I absolutely in love with nature, and the best way for me to relax and get recharged is to spend time by the Ocean. Having drawing as a favorite hobby in addition to my love to be by the Ocean might explain my admiration for the artwork of my absolute favorite painter – Aivazovsky.
